Death by Punk-Exalt Magazine

So After some time away I am back to blog it up!  And how better to return than with a rather feisty Editorial.  Death by punk for Exalt magazine.  A pretty funfilled day Assisting the love Nat Van Zee on some pretty daring posed shots on top of a roof top.

These beauties were taken by Elizabeth Hoffe, Styled by Natalie Read, with hair by Louis Byrne.

The setting was in, none other than Brick lane.  Giving the perfect Urban backdrop to showcase some impressive outfits and sassy styling.   The weather held up nicely giving the ideal contrast to our edgy colour popping shoot.
Check out a few of our behind the scenes shots to give you an idea of shoot life.
Death by Punk is out now in Exalt, WTS for more to come...

An eve with Superdry @ Battersea powerstation.

Once again, I was lucky enough to be back and working on Superdrys anniversary show.  This time taking place at the very funky venue of Battersea Power station.  Perfect for the laid back style of Superdrys brand, whilst giving that underlying urban edginess.

The show was due to open at 10pm, so from 5pm onwards it was all hands on board to prep and preen all 20 models.
Just one of our lovely models Harvey, who kept me well entertained.  As well as being quite easy on the eye.

Once the show was done, it was tools down to enjoy Superdry's after show party, set up within the power station.  Bar and live band where on hand to entertain the many media and guests, eager to see what Superdry had to offer.

By the humid grey light of day, the power station was not much to look at.  However, it certainly looked impressive when lit up by night.  As you can see I got a little snap happy.

Check out what Superdry has to offer for yourself @ http://www.superdry.com.

Wedding bells...

Check out the lovely Diane!
Who I helped become a bootiful blushing bride for her special day.
Along with sister Sian and mother of the Bride Sylvia, who all got a spot of pampering for the special day.

Another special bridal occasion, was Helen's hen doo.
Lavished with  cupcakes, Prosecco and many more treats galore....Including some cheeky butlers in the buff...the lovely Sam and Tim, for a slumber party themed night in.

The fun continued for an Essex night out the following evening...with yet more prosecco, The hen sat back and was treated to some Celebrity style treatment and transformed into a TOWIE treasure.  Smokey eyed and lashed up she was good to go!

If you are looking for a Make-over or a run through test, be it for that special occasion or just a big night out.  Or maybe you just need some ideas for any event that may be taking place.  Take note here or drop me a line ladies.

Gotta be Gatsby inspired..

Another lovely day out shooting for QVC, with the fabulous Make-up junkies.
On this QVC jewelry shoot, the theme, you may have noticed was to be inspired by The Great Gatsby.  So  the 1920's was out in full swing, with flapperesque dresses and finger waves galore.

The venue from the outside was not much to look at, however once inside it was the most gorgeous 1920's styled ballroom, with many of the original features still intact.

Lash it up!

I am sure like many of you, finding the right mascara has proven a challenge.  I have followed my own rule of never just sticking to the one.  Separate lashes with one kind and add volume with another.  That's just me though.
So Below I have selected just a few mascaras, I think do a pretty good job solo, I even took the liberty of getting opinions from friends, so don't just go on my word.
At the top is my old faithful L'Oreals Volume million lash.  When the flimsy comb mascaras were hitting the shops, I was not a fan.  So when L'Oreal brought out Volume Million lash, I was hooked.  The brush had the comb effect, with all the power of a brush, great for separating those lashes in a sweep.  Unfortunately it would dry out pretty quickly, proving a small fortune being spent on mascara.

However not just content with Lash Million, probably due to the unfortunate fact, i have short stumpy lashes.  I would add some extra volume using Bourgois Volume Glamour Max, with its great brush...not too big, not to small, just right to take hold of lashes lengthening and volumising as it goes.  Downside, again it dries out pretty quick.
False lash effect from Max factor, with its chunky fibred wand.  Is great for those gals lucky enough to have lengthy lashes.  Lashes are lengthened and injected with a coating of black, giving those lashes a generous fullness.
Last but definitely not least...my favourite find!  Is Rocket Volume, by Maybeline.  This beauty I am pleased to announce, has been used solo.  I have not needed to double up with another brand.  With its' fibred wand.... "is it a brush or is it a comb?" effect, it both separates and lengthens.  A friend, at a loss when forgetting her mascara, borrowed this secret weapon and she was sold.  Off out she went the very next day to purchase it for herself.  You will find no smudgeyness after a days wear and mine is still yet to dry out.  Available in waterproof as well, however I personally am not the biggest fan or waterproof mascaras.  I find mascara can be a nightmare as it is to get off, let alone being waterproof...I need all the lashes I can get.
So get lashed up ladies and give this fine selection a go.

Cosmetic A La Carte....Thankyou!!

A brand that has been serving us since the 70's.  Cosmetic A La Cartes motto, has been to make their mark on the beauty world.  Creating products that are not only simple to use, but work around you and your personal needs.  With a range like no other brand, if you need that discontinued foundation, that colour match lippy they have making make-up shopping a breeze.
Needless to say, when the opportunity came about for me to drop by and have a play around, I was not going to miss out.  Along with an additional surprise, walking away with a goody bag of souvenirs from the experience.  .

Once safely in the confines of Cosmetic A La Cartes, boutique surroundings...I was free to dabble with various products.  Yes, I reverted to my usual "kid in a candy store" persona, which often happens when faced with mounds of make-up.

Obviously. Once home i carefully unwrapped my various treats, to have a browse at what I could get started on using first.
Having now personally used various products.  I can happily recommend some that stand out, as must haves.  Rose Dew primer, not only smells amazing, but it leaves the skin soft, refreshed and glowing I use this personally and within my kit.  Another great product would be the Creme blushes, especially the Bare Blush in Coral.  Easy to apply, it leaves a natural dewy glow to the cheeks, perfect for that sun kissed glow.

So if you find yourself sweeping through the streets of Knightsbridge, head on down to19B Motcombe Street for some well deserved Make-up Therapy.

Oil slicked...

With an abundance of oils on the market right now.  Be it for face, body or cooking that delish dish.  I thought it only right to throw a few oils in to the mix, that will turn those lank locks in to luscious locks.  Having just gone through a bit of a hair transformation myself.  I was on a quest to quench my poor thirsty stressed barnett....so here's what I came up with, a variety of oils easily found in your kitchen along with some hair happy products hitting the shops.

Olive oil commonly found in salad dressing, however this essential oil holds all sorts of added benefits.  Full of  mono-saturated fatty acids, vitamin E and anti-oxidants.   It is therefore great for a DIY hot oil treatment, to get your hair back in tip top condition.
Not only great in your stir fry, this supermarket gem acts as a natural sunscreen against UV rays.  It also nourishes the scalp and hair shaft, whilst its anti-bacterial properties heal and prevent infection.
Move over Argan, Coconut oil the up and coming oil.  Rich in nutrients and good fats, so it’s an effective health food probably why this magic ingredient features in most hair product.  Not only good for your hair, it is great for the skin and even in cooking as it benefits your metabolism, so get cooking ladies.
Kiehl's Deeply restorative smoothing Hair oil Concentrate, mixes Argan and sesame oil to create a deep nourishing treatment to sooth stressed hair.
Dr Hauschka's Neem hair oil, uses a mix of energising Rosemary, Neem oil and Chamomile extracts to calm the hair and scalp of any irritation to bring your hair back to life.
If you have tried Shu uemura's face oils, which I am a huge fan of.  Then try out their Essence Absolue a nourishing protective hair oil.  Infused with Camellia to protect against dryness, frizz and UV damage.
looking for more of a budgeted purchase? Lee Stafford Argan Oil is a light weight oil treatment for all hair types, the Moroccan oil will enrich and nurture natural shine for the smoothest, silkiest, healthiest hair yet.

Whether you decide to raid the kitchen or purchase one of the many super products on the market.  Get slicked up with oil- heat it up and slap it on.  I have pretty much been sleeping with a head of oil most nights, to promote my inner barnett beauty.  I suggest trying it for yourself!

Superdry Show 2013

I recently was lucky enough to assist on Superdry's in-house show.  Held at their flag ship store, off Regent Street.   Showcasing their new clothing collection, with a few extra exciting additions.  Opening the show was a pretty impressive young body popper....Who knew the body could bend and shake that way.  And of course lets not forget those other exciting additions, Superdry has taken the leap into the world of beauty, by introducing their new line of Make-up.

With a great team of MUA's, armed with an array of make-up, including Superdry's very own new additions.  We were also joined by a great team of hair stylists working in Superdry's very own in-house salon.

The look featured loosely curled bed head chic, with clean, fresh bases and smudgy morning-after eye make-up, to give that edgy look, but not distracting from the great collection yet to be seen.

Superdry's new products come in an a great variety of colours, from neutrals to those bright pop out colours.  With some pretty alternative packaging, which reflects their style completely.  The funky packaged products, will not only be a handy addition to your make-up bag, but you will also have plenty of fun playing around with all they have to offer.  I particularly was a fan of their eye palettes (try using wet or dry) and lipsticks, which easily can double up as a creme blush.

Once the show was successfully over, it was down tools to relax and enjoy a cocktail or two, at the much appreciated free bar, thanks to Superdry.  Following on was an after party at The Box.  Unfortunately, this did not bode well with inconveniently falling in with my month of no drinking, so it was an elderflower mocktail and an early night for me.

Have a peak for yourself, at what Superdry has up its sleeve.
