Chrimbo Countdown!

The clock is ticking for those Christmas/New year outfits to start coming together.  How better to complete the look than with some sassy hair and make-up inspiration.

A big winner at the moment is the sleek top knot, which can achieved in many ways.  I am loving Nicole Richie's twist on it, sophisticated but still very on trend, with the incorporation of a bit of cleaver weaving.  A quick and easy way to get a full looking sleek up doo, is with a Donut...Every girl loves a donut!  Above, is exactly what I have used, with my lovely model Kate.  Taking her hair into a sleek high pony and adding a donut the remaining hair has been gathered over the donut, with any excess hair being tucked away, by twisting a simple plait around, which also helps secure the bun.  Secure all in place with some strategically placed bobby pins.

Accessorize
Don't be shy of sticking a few accessorize into your style (don't get carried away though), diamante grips, fascinators, quirky Alice bands, even feather can look great.  I have added a bit of glitz below to Lulu's messy side bun.

As well as a donut, we know by now I love a plait, they can also go a long way to making your look fab.  I saw this ref of a messy fish plait, and like the fact it looks effortless and not kempt in the slightest, but it still has an edgy sophisticated quality about it.  Also this models hair is not that long, showing any hair length can hold a fish plait and still look good.

I'm a big fan of the Bed Head look, I'm also probably a  little bit biased, as I pull it off most days (not through choice, it just happens).  Something about the fact, it really is an effortless look to achieve and it can look really good despite the name.  I found the above refs and both give a great idea of how you an rock a great bed head.  Keep it simple or have a little off the face with a little accesorizing.

Alternatively if your not a fan of the rock and roll out of bed look, maybe a sleek twist on the traditional pony is more you thang.  Gather your hair into a sleek pony, and taking a section of hair wrap it around the hair tie, until all is hidden, secure with a grip similar to that of your own hair colour.

Flick it!

A feline flick never fails.  The secret to a good flick is to keep brows prominent and the rest of your make-up natural and very clean cut.  That's what attracted me to the above image, it shows the best way to wear a great feline flick, liner traces the shape of the eye, brows are defined and the face looks fresh.

The LBD!
I am sure us ladies all have our LBD at the ready, but if the Christmas chaos has sent you off course, here's a few that caught my eye.

Oasis's lace contrast Maxi, giving your usual maxi a bit of a revamp

OK, I know this is not a LBD, however it is another glamorous maxi style dress, which despite the knotted cut out middle, screams Bond girl sophistication.

My personal favourite, Miss Selfriges embellished LBD...almost gives a warrior-esque feel...and no need for over accessorzing.

Hopefully this little lot will get the creative juices flowing and you'll all become glamazons in time for that special event.  Be it your chrimbo party or to welcome in 2013!

Have fun!
